SIX-POINTER IN STORE AT BELLE VUE

RHYL v ABERYSTWYTH TOWN
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE - APRIL 17, 2010
THE term six-pointer could have been invented for this Saturday's clash at Belle Vue.
Rhyl must win to keep alive their hopes of a top three finish and Europa League qualification, while Aberystwyth certainly cannot afford to lose either.
The Lilywhites will be aiming to make it a remarkable 21 league matches unbeaten against Aber, although the foremost thing on their minds will of course be three points.
Aber have not beaten the Lilies in the Welsh Premier since February 8, 2000 when goals from Martyn Griffiths and Wayne Hewitt secured the green and blacks a 2-1 win at Park Avenue, Jon Fisher-Cooke responding for Rhyl.
It is even longer since Aber won at Belle Vue - the 1996/97 season to be exact.
Interestingly, Aber were also the first ever team Rhyl beat in the Welsh Premier. A 3-2 victory was secured on September 10, 1994 at Belle Vue with Tony Livens, Timmy Steel and an own goal bagging a first ever three points for the Lilywhites in the WPL at the fourth attempt.
In 31 WPL meetings between the clubs, Rhyl have won 15, Aber just five and there have been 11 draws. Aber gave gained 0-0 results on their last two visits to Belle Vue.
Left-back Phil Doran is back from suspension for the Lilywhites and Andy Owens has recovered from injury but neither is guaranteed a place in a team which has picked up two heroic away victories in the past week at Haverfordwest and Carmarthen.

Draw will probably mean both teams losing out on Europe, and will be no good to either. Both teams must go for it
In fact with Tabot and Bangor sure to do the business against Port and Sws, either us or Aber (or both) will be cut adrift tomorrow evening before even having to play the two top clubs. We've shown though this last week that all is possible
That unbeaten record of 20 games never ceases to amaze me Ffred, especially as Aber have never been a struggling side over the past 10 years.
Tony Livens, that brings back fond memories. I remember Tony and that wig held on with insulation tape!
