MATTHEW Williams scored for the fifth successive game to keep Rhyl on course for Europe at Richmond Park tonight.
The in-form striker netted the only goal on 28 minutes, finishing clinically from the edge of the box following a neat through ball from Andrew Pearson.
Rhyl had other close calls, Mark Connolly having a point blank header saved by Neil Thomas while Tyrone Kirk hit the post after a typical mazy run.
Carmarthen battled hard, especially in the second half and it needed some good saves from Jack Cudworth to keep them out.
Player-manager Greg Strong was outstanding at the back for the Lilies with John Leah also shining in midfield.
Elsewhere, Port Talbot went third after edging past Newtown 2-1, Bangor City are on Rhyl's coat-tails after comfortably seeing off Airbus UK Broughton 3-0, Llanelli won 1-0 at Bala Town and The New Saints moved close to the title with a 1-0 victory at Technogroup Welshpool.
