LLANELLI 3 (Follows 19, Griffiths 29 & 72 pen)
RHYL 1 (Naylor 17)
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE - APRIL 22, 2010
DEFEAT at Stebonheath Park tonight ended Rhyl's hopes of qualifying for Europe, but Llanelli will go into their final game at Prestatyn Town on Saturday still in with a chance of winning the Welsh Premier title.
The Lilywhites took a 17th minute lead when Andrew Pearson beat three men and from the right of the box delivered the telling pass for Martyn Naylor to score from five yards.
Two minutes later Llanelli were level when Rhys Griffiths' shot came back off keeper Jack Cudworth and from six yards out Jordan Follows netted the rebound unchallenged.
The hosts edged in front on 29 minutes when Chris Venables crossed from the right and Follows' effort fell to the feet of an offside-looking Griffiths to fire in from close range.
The Lilywhites had other chances in the half, Matthew Williams having a shot saved before Pearson smacked the bar when it looked easier to score.
Llanelli made sure of the points on 72 minutes when Tyrone Kirk brought down Follows in the box and Griffiths converted from the spot.
Substitute Sam Heenan went close late on for the visitors from 25 yards while earlier Gareth Owen blasted just over the bar.
RHYL: Cudworth, Naylor (Turner 60), Doran, Dowling, Strong, Leah, C Williams, Pearson, Owen, M Williams, Kirk (Heenan 80). Unused: Ojapah, Dixon. Att: 308.
