A STUNNING TURNAROUND

By Dave Jones on Apr 10, 10 04:28 PM

HAVERFORDWEST COUNTY 2 (Hudgell 6, Christopher 23)
RHYL 4 (Connolly 57 & 69, Kirk 58, M Williams 85)
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE - APRIL 10, 2010

TRAILING 2-0 at half time, Rhyl produced a stunning second half comeback to keep their hopes of European qualification still very much alive.
Goals from Lee Hudgell and Jack Christopher put Haverfordwest in seeming control at half time, but two strikes in a minute from Mark Connolly and Tyrone Kirk levelled it before the hour.
Connolly's 29th goal of the season made it 3-0 on 69 minutes and Matthew Williams' 22nd of the campaign sealed the points five minutes from time.
More to follow later...

Looking at our rivals' fixtures, it's hard to see either Talbot or Bangor dropping any points - both having only one (relatively easy) away fixture left. Hopefully Aber will lose to both us and TNS.

That would leave

Talbot - 67 points
Bangor - 65 points
Aber - 63 points.

On that basis, we could afford to lose one of our remining games (as long as it wasn't against aber) and still finish ahead of Aber.

We could afford to win three and draw one of our remaining games and hopefully pip bangor on goal difference.

To beat Talbot into 3rd place however, we would have to win all four remaining games AND outscore them. If they win the Cup, then finishing 4th just behind them (1 draw) would also qualify us for europe.

If I had to guess, then I'd say we'd finish on 62 points and finish 6th. But the spirit shown at Hwest shows everything is still possible.

That's a mold-breeakr. Great thinking!
