HORAN SIGNS FOR DROYLSDEN

By Dave Jones on Feb 11, 10 12:37 AM

FORMER Rhyl defender and captain George Horan has joined Droylsden in Blue Square Conference North after leaving the Lilywhites last week.
The 27-year-old, who was named in the Welsh Premier managers' team of the season four years running between 2006 and 2009, has been at Belle Vue for the past five seasons.
He captained the team in their title-winning campaign last season and made 145 league appearances for the Lilies, scoring 14 goals. He is also Rhyl's record appearance maker in Europe.

Sorry old mate, disagree you would expect loyalty from no matter what legends! Sometimes in life you have to remember where you came from, what you were when you arrived and what you have become in your time there (i.e. club captain and named in the Welsh Premier managers' team of the season four years running)

True JDH but when you are offered a 2 year deal by the club to stop you moving to Altrincham and then captain the side to the league title I think you have a right not to be told you have to take a 25% cut in the summer and then another 50% cut the following January.

I spoke to George after his last game and he was truly diappointed that it had come to this point, but he's a top non league player with a lot of offers from clubs in better leagues than the WPL. Why would he stay?

JDH said:

I take your point Craig, but surely the reason he should have stayed at least until the end of the season again should have been through LOYALTY!

Loyalty doesn't pay your mortgage

LOYALTY!..... how can you expect the players to show loyalty when the owner/chairman/whatever walks off half way through the season knowing dam well what the result of that decision would be! You lead by example and i'm afraid some of the players have copied his example.

Good call Dingers. I had no problem with Parry calling it a day, it was WHEN he decided to call it a day.
You don't leave a football club in the smelly stuff halfway through a season, you see it through.
And yes, the players will follow his example and leave although some had their hand forced while the likes of Hunt are just money grabbers who have always been motivated by the coin and he proved that with his celebrations for Bangor.

I would suspect that hard economic realities - rather than loyalty / disloyalty - governed the decisions of both Peter Parry and the players to move on. It does us and the club better to focus on what they gave to us.
