LAST GASP EQUALISER DENIES LILYWHITES VICTORY

ABERYSTWYTH TOWN 2 (Doran og 32, Evans 90)
RHYL 2 (Leah 35, Hunt 75)
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE - DEC 5, 2009
TWO points dropped or one gained?
Over the 90 minutes, 2-2 was probably a fair result at Park Avenue, but Rhyl will have left feeling a little deflated after a 90th minute equaliser from Aber denied them the maximum spoils.
The visitors posed the first threat when Gareth Owen's goalbound 20-yarder was blocked by Aber defender Sion James, then the hosts went close when a Cledan Davies free-kick skidded just wide.
Rhyl keeper Paul Pritchard's poor clearance fell to Davies who tricked his way into the box but his left-foot piledriver missed by inches.
Luke Bowen then should have done better for the mid-Walians, but dragged his close range shot off target following slick build-up.
The champions were left kicking themselves when Chris Williams' neat ball put Lee Hunt in on goal, but he agonisingly drilled past the far post.
When Aber grabbed a 32nd minute lead they benefited from a huge piece of luck as defender Phil Doran sliced Davies' poorly-struck low corner into his own net.
Three minutes later Rhyl were level with an absolute stunner when John Leah's daisy-cutter from all of 40 yards proved too good for home custodian Stephen Cann.
Chances fell at both ends before the interval, Pritchard producing a superb reaction stop from a header by Bowen, who completely miskicked from the rebound, then Leah's cracking free-kick forced a fine tip-over from Cann.
After the break Luke Sherbon, facing his old club, lashed a fraction wide before in worsening conditions the visitors took the lead on 75 minutes.
From a swift counter attack, Owen broke over the halfway line and fed substitute Matthew Williams on the left.
Williams then played a slick one-two with Chris Williams before his pinpoint left-foot cross was converted by a Hunt diving header.
Owen slammed one just wide before a double-stop by Pritchard from Bowen looked to have been a lifesaver for the Lilies.
But in the 90th minute the visitors failed to clear a corner and from the left byeline Adam James' deep cross was headed in by substitute Evans, Pritchard beating the ball out, but from behind the goal-line.
Rhyl: Pritchard, Dowling, Doran, Horan, Strong, Leah, Stones, Owen, Hunt, C Williams, Kirk (M Williams 63). Subs: Ballard, Heenan, Coates. Att: 358.
