CHRIS ROBERTS ALSO RELEASED

By Dave Jones on Jun 13, 09 02:14 PM

Chris Roberts
RHYL have also released defender Chris Roberts, it has been revealed.
Roberts, 23, joined the Lilywhites in November 2006 and progressed into one of the finest left-sided defenders in the Welsh Premier.
Chris first featured in the WPL in 2005/06 for NEWI Cefn Druids having joined them from Colwyn Bay. He very rarely had a poor game for the Lilywhites, his ability as a solid defender and ball carrier making him worth his weight in gold.
Roberts was in and out of the first team last season and as part of the squad trimming this summer was deemed surplus to requirements. There has been reported interest from Colwyn Bay in the defender.
Meanwhile, midfielder Danny Williams continues to train with Rhyl but talks over his future at the club are ongoing.

Another one gone, though again I'm not suprised. But as I said on another thread, its leaving woefully short of numbers.

good player though not one I was ever 100% convinced about. Defended well most of the time, but lacked the quality of a Stones or Naylor on the ball

Spot on Craig, a competant defender but rarely progressed further forward than the half way line. Concerned at the number of players gone, mistake in my opinion to release O'Neill who was a good utility player, able to slot in anywhere along the back line. More of a concern for me is who is going to supplement the goals scored by Reid - Matty Williams I think not?
