WILSON GIVEN PERMISSION TO SPEAK TO OTHER CLUBS

By Dave Jones on May 27, 09 04:24 PM

ON HIS WAY?: Gareth Wilson
RHYL are prepared to release long-serving midfielder Gareth Wilson.
The 31-year-old, second in the all-time Welsh Premier appearances chart for the Lilywhites behind Timmy Edwards, was loaned out to Welshpool in January but returned to Belle Vue for the end of season championship celebrations, featuring in Rhyl's final game at NEWI Cefn Druids as a substitute.
"We've given permission for Gareth to speak to other clubs, but the terms of his contract are such that he could still feature for us in European matches," said head coach Allan Bickerstaff.
Wilson has made 221 WPL starts for Rhyl, also making 36 substitute appearances, and has bagged 24 goals.

Understandable, given the situation last season, but sad to see him go. I hope that the much-mentioned testimonial match can be arranged for a long-serving and well-respected team member before he moves on.

Of course its sad, Gareth has been a great servent to Rhyl for a number of years giving 100% whenever he played, however there is no place for sentiment and unfortunately his 'ageing legs' have finally caught up with him so its time to move on with everyones best wishes for the future, diolch o galon Gareth.
