COPPERS COP OUT
THERE will be NO police presence at this Saturday's crunch Welsh Premier League clash at Oswestry between The New Saints and Rhyl, reports Lilywhites secretary Joe Furnival.
This is despite the fact Shrewsbury Police issued a warning last week for all Rhyl fans to behave themselves during the top of the table game at Park Hall stadium.
The police statement, based on concerns over the trouble involving Rhyl followers at the recent league match against Bangor City at Farrar Road, was read out over the public address system by Mr Furnival at Saturday's game versus Welshpool at Belle Vue.
The New Saints also wish it to be known that smoking will not be allowed in any part of the ground at Saturday's match.
TNS have said those wishing to smoke during the game or at the interval will be allowed to leave the ground to do so and re-enter.
It is hoped the home club will be good to their word as the same situation last season led to unrest between stewards and Rhyl supporters who claimed they were denied re-entry into the ground after a smoking break.
