Greg Strong.jpgIN the last few minutes defender Greg Strong has signed for Rhyl.
Strong, 32, made his first appearance for the Lilywhites in tonight's friendly against Colwyn Bay.
BIOGRAPHY:
Gregory Strong was born in Bolton on September 5, 1975.
A former England schoolboy and youth international, Strong started his footballing career with Wigan Athletic in 1992.
He then moved to Bolton Wanderers, but after failing to establish himself in the first team he moved north of the border to play for Motherwell in 2000 for a £150,000 fee.
He returned to England in 2002 when he was signed up by Hull City. Strong also had loan spells with Cheltenham Town, Scunthorpe United, Bury and Macclesfield Town before moving north again to sign for Livingston in 2005.
The 6ft 2 defender was released in late 2006 from Dundee FC. On March 8, 2007, he was signed by Halifax Town and scored a goal on his debut for the Shaymen after just four minutes, but was released by the club at the end of the season, joining Northwich.
Last season he wore the colours of Droylsden, a club which has fed Rhyl so many players in the past.
Rhyl will be his 17th senior club in a 16-year career.

Not wanting to be a killjoy, but how much has this guy got left? Yes he has played at a high level, but judging by his last two clubs his career is on a downward spiral, and when are we going to stop signing Droylsden cast-offs? If he can make the same impact as Ruffer did last season all well and good. Presumably this will freeze out O'Neill and Holt from the centre back positions.

just thinking what an impressive footballing cv; certainly looks better on paper than ruffer's when he joined. strong sounds the kind of journeyman football who may excel in the wpl.

More clubs than Tiger Woods! a lot of miles on the clock! Looks like a 'final resting place' for this one?

c'mon guys, he's only 32 - you've got him flying around on the stannah stairlift already. ok, he has had many clubs, but being candid, do we really expect to attract anyone with a more impressive footballing cv to the giddy heights of the wpl! be realistc and give the guy a chance!
