EX-MANCHESTER UNITED MAN SIGNS FOR RHYL
STRIKER Matthew Williams has become the latest top class talent to sign for Rhyl.
Williams, who hails from Denbigh and is a Wales Under-21 international, joined Manchester United as a 16-year-old and spent five years at Old Trafford, establishing himself as a key player in the reserves although never quite breaking into the elite first team.
From 2004-2006 he played for League Two club Notts County before switching to Conference club Tamworth.
Last season he was loaned out to Burton Albion, who lost out narrowly in the Conference National end of season play-offs in May.
"A few Conference and League of Wales clubs showed an interest in signing me, but I chose Rhyl because they have treated me so fantastically well," said Williams.
"They are a very friendly club full of ambition. I am 100% committed to Rhyl now and hope to help take them to the next level."
Williams put pen to paper this evening before Rhyl's friendly against Oldham Athletic.
A more in-depth interview with Williams and fellow new signing Greg Strong will appear on this blog soon.
