"NO SINKING SHIP AT RHYL" - MILNER

By Dave Jones on Jun 2, 08 10:23 AM

WHILE a number of leading players look set to leave Rhyl, the club has no intention of becoming a sinking ship.
Managing director Dave Milner says club president Peter Parry is already looking at bringing in at least six top quality players from higher leagues to replace those who could be on their way.
Mr Milner confirmed as well as Lee Hunt's departure for Barrow, utility player Stuart Graves is on his way to join former team mate Dave Cameron at Bradford Park Avenue.
However, the MD is hopeful Mark Connolly, also linked with a move to Bradford PA, can be persuaded to stay.
He added keeper Lee Kendall is available for the Inter-Toto Cup, but is unlikely to stay at Belle Vue next season as he wants to spend more time supporting his mother in South Wales following the untimely death of his father Mark recently.
It looks odds on defender James Brewerton will sign for Bangor City, while skipper George Horan has attracted the interest of TNS but has not yet committed himself to any club.
Midfielder Greg Stones is set to have talks with Rhyl this week, while efforts are still being made to contact the mercurial Michael White.
On the plus side, Craig Garside, Matthew Holt and Craig Jones have signed for next term and Chris Sharp remains a Rhyl player but is recovering from an operation to remove pins from his leg inserted following the double break he suffered in 2006. Other squad players have signed for Europe but it remains to be seen whether they will commit themselves further.
"We are looking at least half a dozen players from higher leagues," said Mr Milner. "People are talking about the side breaking up and the club crumbling, but Peter Parry has no intention of letting that happen."
Applications for the post of first team coach close this Friday, June 6. Club media officer Doug Mortimer said senior officials would discuss the situation over the weekend and an appointment could be made next week.
FAW technical director Osian Roberts is currently coaching the squad.

Having left a couple of pessimistic posts, only fair to respond positively to this news. In Pete Parry we trust. The Lee Kendall sitiuation is sad, but very understandable. Michael White too lightweight for me. C'mon George - don't go over to the dark side. Do you really want to play on that bit of carpet in front of the extras from the Vicar of Dibley and for that heinous dwarf? And Craig Jones has signed!!!
