MIXED SQUAD IRELAND BOUND UNDER BICKERSTAFF'S WING

By Dave Jones on Jun 2, 08 12:30 PM

WELL-KNOWN local football figure Allan Bickerstaff has been appointed temporary senior coach at Rhyl.
He will take charge of the squad which will travel to Northern Ireland this weekend to take on fellow Inter-Toto Cup qualifiers Distillery on Saturday in a pre-Euro warm-up.
Bickerstaff, a former assistant boss at Airbus UK and Porthmadog, has also been involved in management with Prestatyn Town and Rhyl Reserves.
A one-time Rhyl player, he is also renowned for his outstanding work as girls football development officer for Denbighshire.
Bickerstaff's temporary appointment will fuel the widespread belief that he could soon take over at Belle Vue full-time.
Rhyl will send a mixed squad to East Belfast for Saturday's pre-season friendly against Distillery at Ashfield Comprehensive School (2pm kick-off).
The squad is: Lee Kendall, Craig Jones, Paul O'Neill, Mark Connolly, Matthew Holt, James Brewerton, Tom Roberts, Joe Ahern, Adam France, Aaron Wright, Gary Powell, Chris Roberts, Jon Stazicker, Mike Roose, Daniel Knight.
Several first team squad members who will not travel are signed on for the Inter-Toto Cup ties on June 21 and 28.
