AIRBUS AND WELSHPOOL IN LEAGUE CUP FOR LILIES

By Dave Jones on Jun 8, 08 09:15 PM

WELSH Premier newcomers Prestatyn Town will be up against full-timers The New Saints in the opening stages of the 2008/09 Loosemores League Cup while Rhyl have been paired with Welshpool Town and Airbus UK Broughton.
Connah's Quay Nomads make up group six along with Prestatyn and TNS so it will be a tough baptism in the competition for Neil Gibson's men.
Rhyl, finalists in five of the last six seasons, will not relish a midweek trip to Mid-Wales to face spoilers Welshpool while Airbus knocked the Lilywhites out of the tournament in 2005/06.
Teams in each group, of which there are six, will play each other on a home and away basis.
The six group winners will progress to the quarter-finals along with the best two runners-up.
Cup draw in full
Group One: Aberystwyth Town, Carmarthen Town, Haverfordwest County.
Group Two: Neath Athletic, Llanelli, Port Talbot Town.
Group Three: Caernarfon Town, NEWI Cefn Druids, Newtown.
Group Four: Bangor City, Caersws, Porthmadog.
Group Five: Airbus UK Broughton, Rhyl, Welshpool Town.
Group Six: Connah's Quay Nomads, Prestatyn Town, The New Saints.
