WELSH ALLIANCE LEAGUE
THE prolific Marc Lloyd Williams claimed a hat-trick for a Rhyl Reserves side which boosted its chances of finishing third in the Welsh Alliance League with this demolition of Pwllheli at Belle Vue.
With Lloyd Williams cup tied for the first team, he was drafted into the reserves line up for what was the only league game to survive the weather.
Rhyl took the lead on 27 minutes when defender Adam France headed home from a Scott Millington corner.
Three minutes later Lloyd Williams hit a volley from inside the box which looked goalbound but Mike Roose applied the final touch for his 21st goal of the season.
Home keeper Jamie Jones saved at the feet of Pwllheli's Chris Griffith before Rhyl made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time, Lloyd Williams cutting in from the left and striking a fierce shot past visiting keeper Carwyn Thompson.
The second half saw the hosts continue to dominate and they went 4-0 up on 57 minutes when a good ball from the back by Tom Roberts released Lloyd Williams who administered another deadly finish from close range.
Both keepers made fine saves before the Lilywhites notched their fifth in the 74th minute, Millington's corner going in off Pwllheli's unfortunate Neil Jones.
Chances continued to flow for Jon Stazicker's side, the player-boss himself firing wide at the back post from a Sean Morgan cross, then Roose was denied by a Thompson save.
Pwllheli should have nabbed a consolation when substitute Gareth Williams caught James Brewerton napping, but his shot from an acutish angle was well dealt with by Jones.
And in the 90th minute Rhyl made it a half dozen when Alec Williams made a fabulous run from his own half, saw his shot come back off Thompson, but Lloyd Williams picked up the rebound and held off the attention of a defender to slot in his third.
RHYL: J Jones, Morgan, J Brewerton, France, T Roberts, S Brewerton (Stazicker 77), Williams, Shorrocks, Millington, Roose, Lloyd Williams.
