KELLY INJURY SETBACK

By Dave Jones on Dec 17, 07 09:46 PM

RHYL midfielder Jimmy Kelly has suffered a setback in his bid to regain full fitness.
Kelly made his much-awaited return for the first team after several weeks on the sidelines in last Tuesday’s 3-0 North Wales Challenge Cup win over Holyhead Hotspur.

The ex-Wrexham and Chester City midfield maestro produced a highly charged 64 minutes before beign replaced by Craig Garside.
It later emerged Kelly had sustained nasty bruising on the knee which was recently operated on and thus he missed the weekend matches.
“The intention was to give him 60 to 70 minutes with the reserves to help his recovery, but it wasn’t to be,â€? said Rhyl boss John Hulse.
Kelly was due to visit the surgeon who operated on his knee for a check-up this week.
“We’re just hoping this isn’t too much of a setback and that he’ll be back playing soon,â€? added Hulse. “Jimmy’s straining at the leash – he just loves playing.â€?
Meanwhile defender James Brewerton, who has not featured for the first team this season due to a knee injury, is optimistic about his chances of returning in the near future.
Brewerton has a twisted kneecap which will require intense physiotherapy, but he is hopeful the problem can be treated and he will figure in the firsts in the new year.
“We’ve really missed him; he’s a local lad who wears the Rhyl shirt with pride,â€? Hulse said. “He’s been out for so long now it will be like having a new signing when he gets back, which we hope happens sooner rather than later.â€?
Garside had a 60-minute runout for the reserves on Saturday and is getting closer to a full first team comeback.
