WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
SATURDAY 2.30pm
WITH Rhyl on a 12-match unbeaten run in the league against Carmarthen, the Lilywhites’ prospects of a positive result at Richmond Park this Saturday appear good.
Not since the 2001/02 season have the Old Golds claimed a league victory over the Lilies – that goes back to the time before John Hulse became manager at Belle Vue.

But this weekend’s clash of the high flyers still promises to be very tough with Carmarthen rising above Rhyl to third in the Welsh Premier on Saturday after an 8-0 blitzing of freefalling Connah’s Quay.
Town striker Tim Hicks was in lethal form, netting a club record-breaking five against Nomads. Hicks has a knack of scoring against Rhyl too.
But Rhyl have an excellent strike force of their own in Andy Moran and Lee Hunt. The pair have grabbed 28 goals between them this season and Hunt is set to return in the league for the first time since receiving a two-match ban for his sending off in the 2-1 defeat against Bangor last month.
The Lilywhites and Old Golds have already met once this season, on the opening day of the campaign when Rhyl won 2-1 at Belle Vue.
Hulse’s side was outstanding that day, creating a host of chances and the Rhyl manager stated after the game it could easily have finished 10-1.
Carmarthen have produced some good displays at their West Wales ground this term, but have also appeared vulnerable at times.
None more so was this the case when they went down 3-1 at home to lowly Caersws on November 10.
Last season Rhyl drew 1-1 at Richmond Park through a Dave Cameron goal.
Since 1996/97, the teams have met 23 times in the WPL, and the Lilywhites lead by 13 victories to six with four draws.
