RHYL LOOK TO STORM INTO PORT

By Dave Jones on Nov 2, 07 11:31 PM

RHYL v PORT TALBOT TOWN
WELSH CUP THIRD ROUND
SATURDAY 2.30pm
MEMORIES of a thrilling Welsh Cup tie from the 2005/06 season will be evoked when Rhyl again do battle with Port Talbot in the competition at Belle Vue tomorrow.
It was in the semi-finals two seasons ago that the Lilywhites and the Steelmen played out an incident-packed 2-2 draw at Aberystwyth before John Hulse's men won 5-4 on penalties.

Rhys Griffiths put Port ahead on the stroke of half time, but two goals in two minutes from Chris Sharp and Lee Hunt turned things round for the Lilies.
Chris Pridham equalised in the 90th minute, however, and then in extra time Griffiths looked to have won it when he beat keeper John Gann in a race to the ball, but the referee controversially ruled the Port man had committed a foul.
Spot-kicks were 5-4 in Rhyl's favour when Gann saved from Lee John to clinch the Lilywhites a final meeting with Bangor City, which they won.
Port Talbot hardly come to Belle Vue in the best of form, having been hammered 8-0 at Llanelli on Friday. The South Wales club has also been in hot water twice recently over fielding ineligible players - possibly a good time to play them then.
Rhyl are aiming to win the Welsh Cup for the third time in five seasons under Hulse.
It is hoped striker Andy Moran and wide man Craig Jones will be back in contention tomorrow, along with skipper George Horan, who was rested for the Connah's Quay League Cup game in midweek.
