ANGLESEY TEST FOR THE LILYWHITES
LLANGEFNI TOWN v RHYL
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE CUP QUARTER-FINAL
TONIGHT 7.30pm
WITH a fifth League Cup final appearance in six seasons in their sights, John Hulse’s Rhyl side travel to Anglesey tonight for a last eight clash with Llangefni Town.
The Lilywhites will be buoyed by Sunday’s 7-2 thrashing of Caersws which kept them third in the Welsh Premier, while Cefni's relegation worries grew after a 3-0 defeat at Aberystwyth.
However the Islanders, managed by former Rhyl boss Adie Jones, have been in cracking form in knockout competitions, especially the League Cup where they sailed through the group stage with a 100% record, casting aside Caernarfon Town and Porthmadog.
Rhyl have already won 3-0 in a league fixture at Cae Bob Parry on September 1. Goals that day came from Lee Hunt (2) and Chris Roberts.
With Hunt returning to form on Sunday with a double at Caersws, and new sensation Michael White bursting for another first-team opportunity, the Lilywhites are more than capable of taking Cefni apart this evening.
But Hulse’s men will be taking nothing for granted, with Town seeing the League Cup as one of their best chances of winning a trophy this term.
Midfielder Gareth Wilson will be available again for Rhyl after serving a one-match suspension while defender Chris Roberts' three-game ban ends this evening.
