NEW YOUTH TEAM FOR RHYL

By Dave Jones on Sep 23, 07 10:37 PM

RHYL FC has unveiled its new youth team which will soon represent the club in the first round of the Welsh Youth Cup.
As part of Rhyl’s commitment to conforming to the strict new licensing on junior football, which dictates it fields two youth teams of under-19s playing in recognised leagues, the Lilywhites have linked with Prestatyn Rangers who will play for the club as an official affiliated team as laid down by the UEFA and the Welsh Premier League guidelines.

“We are really pleased we now have a youth team that are all under 19 and made up of local lads and look forward to working with Steve and his team,” said a Rhyl FC spokesman.
“In the past we have always struggled to field a team in this age group, which is a reflection of the lack of teams playing youth football in the area, in that there is not a recognised youth league.”
Prestatyn Rangers are managed by Steve Alcock who commented: “This is a great opportunity for the club to be linked with Rhyl FC, which can only benefit the players and youth football in general.”
Prestatyn Rangers have already played two matches, beating Halkyn 5-1 and Denbigh 4-0
The Welsh Cup tie against Acrefair Youth is being played at Belle Vue next Sunday (September 30) kick off 2.30pm.
The team's new kit is sponsored by Anglia Building and Decorating Contractors who are Rhyl FC’s main shirt sponsor, and who are commited to supporting youth football.
A picture of the team will appear in this week's Rhyl and Prestatyn Visitor.
