KEEPER KENDALL SIGNS FOR RHYL

By Dave Jones on Aug 17, 07 10:50 AM

Lee Kendall
A GOALKEEPER regarded by many as the best in the Welsh Premier League has signed for Rhyl on the eve of the 2007/08 season.
Lee Kendall has finally been released by Haverfordwest County and is on his way to Belle Vue.

It is not yet clear if Kendall, 26, will feature in tomorrow's curtain raiser against Carmarthen Town.
Kendall slapped in a transfer request after the end of last season and was an immediate target for Rhyl boss John Hulse, but the Bluebirds refused to release him from a contract which was due to run until 2010.
The son of former Spurs keeper Mark Kendall, he played at Crystal Palace, Cardiff City and Barry Town, signing for Haverfordwest County from Shrewsbury Town in January 2003.
A Welsh Under-21 and semi-professional international, he has made 150 Welsh Premier appearances, which includes 14 for Barry Town.
It remains to be seen how Rhyl fans will greet the new signing. Kendall has not enjoyed the best of relationships with Lilywhites supporters in the past.

One of the final pieces in the jigsaw to complete the picture of a really strong squad.

We all loved to wind up Kendall because of his ostentatious flamboyance and his arrogance, but we all knew that he is the best goalkeeper in the league and probably one of the best outside the full time professional game.

He should be a great aquisition for us and will help us mount a serious challenge for top spot this year.
