HAKA RETURN TO FORM
RHYL'S UEFA Cup opponents FC Haka returned to winning ways tonight with a 2-0 success at Honka in the Veikkausliiga, the Finnish premier division.
With just one victory in their previous six starts, the Valkeakoski outfit were seemingly in decline, but goals from Toni Lehtinen and Valeri Popovitch sealed the victory which moved Haka up to second in the table.
Lehtinen broke the deadlock on nine minutes with his eighth goal of the season, then Russian Popovitch, who was named man of the match, added a second after 13.
The performance of Popovitch is cause for concern for Rhyl fans. The 37-year-old club record goalscorer did not travel to the first leg in North Wales as he is terrified of flying.
Rumours were circulating that he was injured as well, but he played himself into serious contention for next week's second leg with his display at Honka.
Haka trail the Lilywhites 3-1 going into next Thursday's return, but the tie is far from over.
