HULSE APPLAUDS MURTAGH SIGNING
RHYL manager John Hulse believes his former midfielder Conall Murtagh signing for Football League Two club Wrexham is a real shot in the arm for both the Lilywhites and the Welsh Premier.
Northern Ireland Under-21 international Murtagh joined the Robins on a two-year contract last Friday – just days after committing to Conference North outfit Southport.
“I’m delighted for Conall, said Hulse. “Southport is a big club, but I didn’t feel joining the Conference North would be a step up from the Welsh Premier.
“However, joining Wrexham is a big move and I know Conall will work hard and make a real go of it. He was always first to arrive for training and last to go and I wish him all the very best.
With ex-Rhyl utility man Greg Stones also looking set to sign for League One club Crewe Alexandra, Hulse feels this reflects favourably on the Lilywhites and WPL.
“I brought Greg Stones from West Cheshire football into the Welsh Premier and I feel it’s a great tribute to Rhyl FC and the WPL that two of our ex-players are stepping up to the Football League.
