PAUL ROWLANDS APPOINTED RHYL NUMBER TWO

By Dave Jones on May 28, 07 03:41 PM

THE much-travelled Paul Rowlands has been appointed assistant manager to John Hulse at Rhyl.
Rowlands, 46, had a brief spell as number two to Hulse at Belle Vue four seasons ago, but left to pursue business interests.

Now the vociferous Merseysider is back with the Lilywhites as replacement for Neil Young, who joined the management team at Unibond League Cammell Laird last month.
Rowlands signed for Tranmere Rovers as a youngster, but was released and then moved around the local non-league scene, playing for Lairds, Hoylake and West Kirby before joining Runcorn in 1985 and then Bangor City prior to moving to New Zealand club Mount Tanguani.
He played for Barrow before having spells as player manager at Bangor, Conwy United and Altrincham, with Hulse his assistant at various stages at all three clubs.
After a disappointing second stint in charge at Alty, he picked up his playing career at Worcester City before joining Welsh Premier clubs Conwy United, Holywell Town and Caernarfon Town, where he was also player-boss. As a player, he made a total of 106 WPL appearances.
In recent years, Rowlands has also managed Vauxhall Motors and, last season, New Brighton in the West Cheshire League.
"The last time Paul was at Rhyl he left to set up a business, but he's very keen to come back and give it another go," said Hulse. "He brings a lot of experience and motivational skills to the club."
