FORMER FA CUP HEROES BOUND FOR BELLE VUE
RHYL FC will welcome Unibond League outfit Hednesford Town to Belle Vue for a pre-season friendly on July 28.
The Staffordshire-based club reached the fourth round of the FA Cup in 1996/97, beating Blackpool and York City before losing 3-2 to Middlesborough.
The Keys Park outfit, also beaten Welsh Cup finalists in 1992, are managed by former Nottingham Forest striker Phil Starbuck.
Rhyl manager John Hulse said pre-season matches at Belle Vue will be limited due to the large amount of work carried out on the pitch during the summer.
The Lilywhites will play a UEFA Cup preliminary round tie on their home turf on either July 19 or August 2.
Rhyl are also planning a couple of friendlies in Ireland, with Linfield on the list, and it is hoped a game can also be arranged with beaten Scottish Cup finalists Dunfermline Athletic.
"Because we're starting so early due to Europe, it's proving nigh on impossible to get friendlies with Football League clubs," added Hulse.
