HUNT HAT-TRICK SEALS REVENGE

WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
Celebrations
WITHOUT a big wind to help them Caersws were simply blown away by a rampant Rhyl side determined to make second place their own.
John Hulse's men now need just a point from their remaining two games to secure a fully deserved runners-up spot. Saturday's win has already clinched the Lilywhites a place in European competition for a fourth successive season.

In last month's Loosemores Challenge Cup final, Caersws had beaten Rhyl on penalties, but the game was totally ruined by strong winds.
Revenge was certainly sweet for the Lilies on Saturday as they thrashed a Bluebirds outfit intent on spoiling tactics.
It was certainly mission accomplished for Mickey Evans' side in a first half-hour where they restricted the hosts to a Mark Connolly free-kick which flew wide of the target.
But when midfield marauder Conall Murtagh rattled the crossbar with a 20-yard rocket on 31 minutes it seemed to kickstart the Lilywhites into action.
In the 37th minute the deadlock was broken when Dave Cameron's neat header found Alex Hay who crossed low from the right and Lee Hunt converted clinically from three yards.
Two minutes later Hunt made it two with a move he started and finished himself. Rhyl's leading scorer fed Gareth Wilson whose brilliant cross picked out Cameron in space in the area. The big scot controlled and sent a tantalising ball across the six-yard box and Hunt netted again.
Rhyl made sure of the points with a third goal on 58 minutes. Ross Stephens won a header and Hunt outmuscled his marker before completing his hat-trick and notching his 24th goal of the season with a sublime chip over Andy Mulliner.
Andy Moran replaced Hay on 61 minutes and he almost added a fourth when his low drive was cleared from near the goal-line by Colin Reynolds.
It says everything about Caersws' performance that they did not manage an effort on goal until the 74th minute. Martin Plant's 20-yard attempt hardly lit up Belle Vue, drifting harmlessly off target.
Plant and Chris Venables went slightly closer, but the final word fittingly was provided by the home side.
The Caersws defence made a complete mess of a long Connolly throw into the area and substitute Paul Roberts volleyed into an empty net with Mulliner stranded.
Six yellow cards were dished out by referee Jones who, along with his assistants, were truly inept.

RHYL TEAM (with performance marks)

Paul Whitfield: Did not have a single shot to save. Catching and kicking sound - 8.
Mark Powell: Proved again what a classy player he is. Faultless - 9.
Ross Stephens: Good comeback against his old club. Lot more confident than in recent performances - 8.
Mark Connolly: Passing was a bit wayward in the first-half, but improved as the game went on. One drag back was pure class - 8.
George Horan: Truly awesome game at the back. Had the ineffective Damien Currier in his pocket - 9.
James Brewerton: Took a knock in the first-half but was solid as a rock in everything he did, particularly impressing in the air. Replaced on 80 minutes - 9.
Gareth Wilson: Brilliant cross helped set up second goal. Played big role in Rhyl's dominance of the midfield - 8.
Dave Cameron - Yet again his aerial power and physical presence was decisive, playing a big part in the first two goals - 9.
Lee Hunt - Top class finishing from the league's best striker. The Football League clubs will be showing an interest again soon - 9 (MAN OF THE MATCH).
Conall Murtagh - Always made time on the ball, tackled like a Trojan and desperately unlucky not to score. In fabulous form now - 9.
Alex Hay - One of his better games. Laid on the opening goal and caused plenty of problems down the right - 8.
SUBS:
Andy Moran (for Hay 61) - Soon back in the groove. Looked sharp after his lay-off - 7.
Paul Roberts (for Hunt 72) - Great to see him off the mark. Showed the predatory finishing he is known for - 7.
Matthew Holt (for Brewerton 80) - Slotted into the defence well in the closing stages - 6.
Attendance: 390.
