HARD PITCHES MAKE SUMMER FOOTBALL NON-STARTER - YOUNG

RHYL assistant manager Neil Young believes the state of the pitch at Carmarthen on Saturday did nothing to justify the argument supporting Summer football.
Richmond Park was rock-hard and so dusty one onlooker described it as "like something from an African desert".

With little rain in recent weeks, firm pitches have become totally unconducive to playing good football, Rhyl's own Belle Vue being one of the many to suffer.
The FAW canvassed Welsh Premier clubs' opinions on changing the football season from August to May to February to November last year, but the general feeling was the move was a non-starter.
Young said the Carmarthen debacle proved this is the case.
"Summer football is a definite no-goer unless drastic changes are made to the drainage of pitches," opined the Lilywhites assistant boss.
