RESERVES TITLE DREAMS DEALT A DUAL BLOW
RHYL Reserves' hopes of lifting the Welsh Alliance League title received a double jolt on Saturday.
Not only did chief rivals, second-placed Denbigh Town, win 4-1 at Pwllheli, Simon Sedgwick's side also lost six points due to the resignation from the league of Sealand Rovers.
All of Sealand's results have been expunged from the records. Their swansong was a 13-1 home defeat at the hands of Llanrug United on March 17.
Rhyl had thrashed Sealand 5-0 and 8-0 this season, while Denbigh lose only three points having faced Rovers just the once.
The changes to the table now mean Rhyl are still top with 55 points from 23 games, while Denbigh are just two points behind with 53 from 21 starts.
Town have also pushed ahead of the Lilywhites on goal difference.
Rhyl are next in action on Tuesday when they entertain Glan Conwy at Belle Vue (7.30pm) while Denbigh do not play a league game again until Saturday when Bethesda Athletic visit Central Park.
